Strengthening our cities' resilience: Protecting our cultural heritage
On behalf of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and Marsh, in collaboration with the City of Venice, we have the honor of inviting you to the workshop “Strengthening our Cities’ Resilience; Protecting our Cultural Heritage”. This workshop, organized back to back to the event “Building Cities Resilience to Disasters: Protecting Cultural Heritage and Adapting to Climate Change”, will bring together representatives of cities and organisations who wish to learn about methodologies and tools for the protection of their cities’ cultural heritage and take practical steps to improve it.
The workshop will enable participants to further share experiences and learn from each other, with contributions from mayors, risk management and cultural heritage protection specialists. Participants will also benefit from discussions with experts on the tools and methodologies available to protect the cultural heritage buildings of their cities. The experiences and good practices shared by the participants and the output of our discussions will be set out in a guide to be co-published by UNISDR and Marsh. This publication will propose guidance to make cities resilient and recommendations based on the expertise of cultural heritage protection specialists and real-life experiences shared by local level and municipality representatives and experts.
