Launch of the Sendai Framework Monitoring Process
AAH Upper Conference Room, UN Campus
UPDATED on 22 December 2017 (Slightly revised Deadline file and ALL Plenary presentations are available.)
The United Nations General Assembly endorsed on 2 February 2017 the recommendations of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on indicators and terminology relating to disaster risk reduction (OIEWG) through the adoption of the A/71/644. Per this resolution, UNISDR was requested to undertake technical work and provide technical guidance to Member States.
In this regard, UNISDR will organize a technical workshop to launch the Sendai Framework Monitoring Process from 6 to 8 December 2017 in Bonn, Germany. Participants will learn about the Sendai Framework Monitor System, which will be available in early 2018, including its data entry, analytical capabilities as well as levels of application (global, regional, national, local), and also learn about the current work being developed by several countries as they get ready to report on the progress in implementing the Sendai Framework, and the work carried out by relevant international and regional organizations to support Member States.
The technical workshop is designed for nominated Sendai National Focal Points, senior staff of National Statistics Offices (NSOs), as well as other relevant senior-level national data custodians. All participants should register by 17 November 2017 by using the registration link contained in the attached announcement. Thanks to the support being provided by the Government of Germany, the organisers will be able to offer travel support to a limited number of participants from LDCs and SIDS.
Webcast is available during the session .
