Parliamentary Meeting on Build Back Better in the context of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 adopted in the Third UN World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction provides a strong guidance to support national and local efforts in drafting, amending, and adopting sectoral laws and regulations on Disaster Risk Reduction as well as for allocating budget.

In support of the implementation of the Sendai Framework, parliamentarians at the Third UN WCDRR committed to strengthen legislative framework to support a development paradigm that is risk-sensitive and resilient as well as maintaining an institutional continuum through effective pre-disaster recovery planning, preparedness, response and recovery.

The main objective of the meeting is to increase awareness and knowledge on "build back better" as one of the key elements of the recently adopted Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
