The purpose of this workshop is to strengthen China’s ability to report damage and loss data and national implementation progress of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction through the online Sendai Framework Monitor.

 It will aim to do this through:

  1. Increasing participant understanding of Targets and Indicators of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and requirements of reporting these in the online Sendai Framework Monitor;
  2. Identifying national ownership and of damage and loss data collection and management systems that will contribute to the national reporting of Targets and Indicators; and
  3. Increasing national coordination of the collection of needed data for reporting progress on the Sendai Framework for DRR.
     

Target Audience

Authorities and experts from the National/Central government responsible for data collection and reporting, implementing and monitoring disaster risk reduction, response and recovery, sector-specific disaster-related statistics and related development policy and programming.

This would include relevant members of the Ministry of Emergency Management; National Statistics Office; sector departments (agriculture, infrastructures, health, education) and other authorities and organisations responsible for the collection and reporting of relevant disaster damage and loss data, including relevant international development partners such as UNDP, UNICEF, WHO, WFP, UNFPA, UN WOMEN, UNESCO and FAO.
