Webinar - Launch of the SEM Value Proposition
Time
14:00 - 15:00 GMT
Background
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework) framework highlights that resilient sustainable development requires an all-of-society approach. To achieve this, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) engages with a variety of stakeholders, through different mechanisms, to involve all parts of society in building a resilient future. To operationalize the all-of-society approach called for by the Sendai Framework the UNDRR Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM) was created and launched in the year 2018.
As the main interlocutor between UNDRR and stakeholders, SEM works towards disaster risk reduction and resilience building through:
- global and regional advocacy and communication initiatives, including bringing case studies, lessons learned and expertise from the ground to the attention of global and regional policy processes;
- supporting cross-sectoral and transdisciplinary collaboration with stakeholders and CSO groups engaged in the 2030 agenda processes;
- strengthening citizen-led and social accountability mechanisms.
A SEM Value proposition has been developed in order to; enhance the awareness of the added value of being a member and engaging in SEM; enhance the awareness about the added value for Member States and the United Nations to collaborate with SEM.
