The seminar will allows for the formulation of hypotheses about the current context and underlying risk factors in the region in relation to COVID-19 and other pandemics that could occur in the future, from a perspective that reflects the integration of social, ecological, economic and political systems, as evidenced by the current global crisis.

The session will be presented by Elizabeth Mansilla, RAR General Coordinator, who will give an account of the context and progress of RAR 2020. A dialogue will then take place, facilitated by Emily Wilkinson, with a panel of experts consisting of Pascal Girot, Pablo Escribano, Juan Carlos Méndez and Elizabeth Mansilla who will respectfully present the issues of climate change, human mobility and urban risk as drivers of disaster risk and the ways in which the VOC19 pandemic and future potential pandemics influence or would influence these same drivers. Allan Lavell, advisor to the RAR for UNDRR will make closing remarks, along with Emily Wilkinson.

Date: Thursday, April 30th, 1:00 P.M. (Panama Time)
