IDDRR - Fighting inequality for a resilient future
UNDRR

13 October is International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR). We invite you to share your IDDRR events and campaigns with our global community.

In 2023, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) explores how disasters and inequality feed off one another – and how we can break this vicious cycle. Inequality and disaster vulnerability are two sides of the same coin: unequal access to services, such as finance and insurance, leaves those most at risk exposed to the danger of disasters; while the impacts of disasters worsen inequalities and push the most at risk further into poverty.

At the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, the UN General Assembly adopted a political declaration to accelerate action to strengthen disaster resilience. This renewed commitment will help ensure that no one is left behind when disasters strike – especially the most vulnerable and at-risk communities and individuals.

We invite you to share how you are working towards increased disaster resilience and reduced inequality.

Send us the details of your events, promotions or ideas around International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR), so we can fight inequality for a resilient future, together.
