Winners of the ‘Voices of the Community’ Video Contest
MCR2030’s short video contest 'Voices of the Community - Getting Ready for a Resilient Future in the Americas and the Caribbean', gives local voices a platform to tell a story, share ideas, practices, and experiences of their communities related to disaster risk reduction and resilience. The contest emphasizes the ability of local communities to reduce their disaster risks, their efforts to build resilient cities and highlights potential pathways for effective partnerships.

We want to acknowledge the role of those who took part in the contest and contributed to its success! Individuals, youth and student groups, the private sector, NGOs, and the public sector submitted videos from eight different countries, both from urban and rural environments. These videos revealed inspiring local stories and shared various ways to enhance community resilience. They also highlighted cooperation efforts among different actors, stressing the cross-cutting character of the work and further addressing issues such as education, women's empowerment, heritage, and nature-based solutions.
The winner videos in the 'Youth' and 'Community Practices' categories will feature at UNDRR's VII Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction for the Americas and the Caribbean in the "Making cities resilient: the urban challenge" session on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 9:00 - 10:00. You can register for this session here.
