On December 21, 2021 Campinas (SP, Brazil) became one of the first cities in the Americas and the Caribbean to be recognized as a "Resilience Hub" of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) initiative. After this announcement, on January 12, 2022, Mayor Dario Saadi received the certificate, on behalf of the city, from the captain of the hands of Military Police, Felipe Zaupa, in representation of Colonel PM Romanek, chief secretary of the Military House and state coordinator of Protection and Civil Defense.

Workshop in Jamaica

The FORIN Methodology two-day workshop held on January 19 and 20 in Kingston, Jamaica, convened 28 participants from local and national governmental agencies. The workshop concluded with two formulated case studies agreed upon by all participating stakeholders. These case studies will be developed in the following years and presented at the next Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean.

Statements and messages
UNDRR advocates for full inclusion of persons with disabilities and their leaders in developing and implementing national and local disaster risk reduction strategies. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction - our guiding document adopted by Member States in 2015 - repeatedly mentions their involvement. While much has been achieved, much more still needs to be done.
