On November 5, the Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian States at the Regional Forum in Tashkent adopted a Strategy for Development of Cooperation Between Central Asian Countries in Disaster Risk Reduction for 2022-2030.

Building on the Preliminary Disaster Resilience Scorecard Assessment held earlier in September, on 24 September, Bishkek, in cooperation with UNDRR, EU and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Kyrgyz Republic, conducted the Health Systems Disaster Resilience Scorecard Assessment. The significance of the Health Systems Disaster Resilience Scorecard Assessment is the emphasis on facilitating multi-sectoral approaches to integrating health issues in disaster risk reduction/resilience planning at the city level.

For a growing number of populations around the world, facing a future of more frequent and extreme disasters will only be possible if more funding is channelled towards adaptation and disaster risk reduction, writes Mami Mizutori.

Today we conclude the Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction. For four days and throughout 25 sessions, 16 countries and more than 100 experts and 500 participants gathered in a ministerial-level, multi-stakeholder, inclusive, innovative, and interactive platform. The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Regional Office for Arab States, launched the Regional Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction in the Arab Region 2021 (RAR-Arab States), during the Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction. The report represents a major step towards a twenty-first-century regional view of disaster risk and its reduction.
