The Amazon Cities Forum sought to include the specificities and challenges of the Amazon territories in the structuring of a common agenda for sustainability and climate resilience.

A workshop on "Early Warnings for All – COP28" was jointly organized in Abu Dhabi by the UNDRR, the UAE National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

This program aims to raise environmental awareness and enhance disaster preparedness and the ability to respond to emergency situations at all educational levels, driving the transition towards more sustainable and resilient models in the region.

UNDRR and CDRI organized a side event at the margins of the third G20 working group meeting, bringing together experts from the private sector and government to discuss how the G20 can turn commitments into actions and to share their own experiences.

The establishment of the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group is a testament to the commitment of all G-20 countries to change from one of reaction to proactive response, says Mami Mizutori, SRSG.

A training-of-trainers on urban resilience and ‘Making Cities Resilient 2030’ (MCR2030) for Nepal and Bhutan took place from 15 to 18 May 2023.

The Declaration reaffirms the importance of disaster risk reduction for sustainable development and acknowledges the challenges posed by climate change and the need to build resilient societies.

Over the past decade, UNDRR has become a key partner of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) in the delivery and development of its programs.

The roadmap will be accompanied by the efforts of global and regional actors; further alignment and coordination was mentioned as a specific area of focus for CDEMA and CCCCC.

Barcarena and Porto Alegre in Brazil, and Quito in Ecuador, have become the latest Resilience Hubs of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) initiative.
