The Caribbean and the Indian Ocean Island States are among the most disaster-prone regions globally, facing hurricanes, cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Their size, limited resources, and geographical isolation amplify these challenges.

Suriname's development framework, as outlined in the National Development Plan 2017-2021, underscores the country's commitment to disaster risk management and climate change action.

This innovative tool allows for the identification of gaps and opportunities, the definition of priority actions, and the promotion of community participation in integrating specific measures into territorial planning instruments.

As Resilience Hubs, Cali, Montevideo, Pudahuel, and Santa Ana play a crucial role in the MCR2030 network, sharing knowledge and good practices with other cities.

CAF, UNDRR, Green Climate Fund, and other institutional partners are structuring a regional facility that will support LAC countries to formulate national and regional projects on “Climate Information and Early Warning Systems (CIEWS)” .
