Held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, more than 1,000 people attended the first in-person RP forum since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with an additional 2,000 people following events virtually.

The issue of representation and inclusion in disaster risk reduction across the Americas and the Caribbean was discussed in depth.

From today until 2 March 2023, delegations from countries across the region will gather in the resort city of Punta del Este, Uruguay, to exchange experiences and facilitate decisions to implement the Regional Plan of Action.

The CREWS Caribbean initiative’s purpose is to support Caribbean countries in their efforts to increase their weather and climate services and to generate and communicate effective, impact-based and gender-responsive MHEWS and risk information.

The “Regional Launch of the Early Warnings for All Initiative (EW4ALL) for the Caribbean” aims to drive coordinated political action towards strengthening multi-hazard early warning systems.

The agenda features 37 sessions, including 4 high-level sessions, 8 parallel sessions, 2 special sessions, 8 learning labs and 15 side events.

A new MCR2030 tool enables local governments to design, formulate, and implement disaster resilience strategies that are more inclusive of the perspectives and capacities of persons with disabilities
