Nile IWRMnet is an open network with the purpose to promote scaling up of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) knowledge in the Nile Basin countries, and strengthening cooperation in capacity building for IWRM. The objective of the Nile IWRM net is to contribute to the implementation of country capacity building plans, and to the cooperative programme of action between Cap-Net and GWP that supports national IWRM plans and implementation strategies.
The Nile IWRM net is a regional network that operates through decentralised activities of its member centres interested in the development and implementation of capacity building activities in the countries of the Nile Basin, namely: Burundi, D.R. Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The network aims to build regional cooperation and compliment the efforts of existing ongoing capacity building initiatives in the region so as to prioritize and enhance capacities in the IWRM.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
