Conference of the Parties (COP 20) in Lima, Peru: Briefing note from UNISDR

This UNISDR briefing note is intended to inform delegates on disaster risk reduction in addressing climate change and to encourage further action through decisions taken at the previous Conference of the Parties (COP). This year, COP 20 in Lima will outline important measures for adapting to climate change which directly relate to disaster risk reduction. These include decisions about financing, capacity building and using risk information for national adaptation planning and will set the stage for 2015.

This note includes general and specific messages to COP20, including on: a loss and damage mechanism associated with climate change impact; the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban platform for Enhanced Action (ADP); the National Adaptation Plan Process (NAPs).
