This document is the fourth in a series of special topics for consideration, as part of the Words into Action Guidelines on National Disaster Risk Assessment published by UNISDR. This section focuses on the direct and indirect economic impact of disasters, by looking at risk assessment issues such as long-term losses, socioeconomic well-being, unique sectoral vulnerabilities and regional spillovers and effects. It also includes information on an assessment of available financial resources for recovery and other potential constraints such as access to international assets, resources and knowledge.
