In April 1998, IDNDR Secretariat and GeoHazards International launched the Understanding urban seismic risk around the world (UUSRAW) project, which achieved the aims to provide a comparative assessment of the magnitude, causes and ways to manage earthquake risk worldwide and to create a network for 70 cities worldwide to share experiences. RADIUS' objectives were to provide practical tools for urban seismic risk management, assessing the city's risk and preparing plans to reduce it.
