Since its establishment in 2004, JDF has been engaged in various activities toward the ratification and implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities in Japan. JDF has been also active in Asia-Pacific region, as a member of Asian and Pacific Disability Forum (APDF). After the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, JDF established the Headquarters for Comprehensive Support of Persons with Disabilities, and has been engaged in activities such as making proposals to the government, providing direct support to persons with disabilities, raising awareness, etc.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
