Mission
The fundamental objectives of civil protection are:
- Prevent the occurrence of major accidents, disasters and calamities;
- To mitigate the risks inherent in these phenomena and to limit their effects;
- Rescue and assist people in danger;
- Contribute to the restoration of normality in the affected areas.
Civil protection activities are mainly carried out in the following areas:
- Survey, forecast, follow-up, evaluation and prevention of risks of major accidents, catastrophes and disasters;
- Permanent analysis of vulnerabilities in the event of major accidents, disasters and calamities;
- Information and training of the population, with a view to raising their awareness of self-protection and collaboration with the authorities;
- Inventory of resources and resources available for civil protection purposes;
- Study and dissemination of appropriate forms of protection of buildings in general, monuments and other cultural property, essential services facilities, and natural resources;
- Elaboration of operational plans for major accidents, disasters and calamities; (Link emergency planning)
- Restoration of normality in areas affected by the above situations;
The organization has no registered commitments.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
