EFDRR Roadmap 2021-2030

The European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR) is the main intergovernmental forum for addressing regional disaster risk challenges in Europe and Central Asia, comprising 55 countries. Held every three years, the EFDRR gathers stakeholders across governments, civil society, and the private sector, enabling knowledge-sharing and making commitments to reducing disaster risk tangible. The 2021 EFDRR, which was held in Matosinhos, Portugal, in November 2021, culminated in the endorsement of the ‘EFDRR Roadmap for Disaster Risk Reduction 2021-2030', which identifies four shared priority areas for achieving the priorities of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. The four shared priorities include 16 common action areas for development and investment, along with five enabling approaches. The 2021 EFDRR also saw Ministers symbolically sign the Prevention Pledge, which commits Member States to making disaster prevention and resilience a priority.

The Roadmap builds on consultations with European and Central Asian countries, the review of progress in implementing the Roadmap 2015-2020, and lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic response and recovery. The Roadmap is also informed by the Global Platform 2019 and the guiding principles for the Global Platform 2022.
