First planning committee meeting for the DIPECHO action plan for the Caribbean 2013-2014

Format
In person
Venue
UN House, Building 129, City of Knowledge, First floor meeting room
Date

The 2013-2014 DIPECHO Action Plan for the Caribbean aims to establish greater collaboration and coordination between partners, allowing programming of common outcomes and the harmonization of practices. Furthermore, it focuses on improving communication and dissemination of DRR key contributions in the region, by capturing evidence of success on how DIPECHO projects have allowed the most at risk communities to anticipate, withstand, adapt and sometimes, recover quickly from disasters.

It was suggested to establish a “petit comité” comprised of 2013-2014 DIPECHO partners that are interested to pro-actively participate in the organization of regional initiatives and regional coordination mechanisms supporting the 2013-2014 Action Plan. Committee members are requested to contribute to the implementation process by animating and stimulating the potential outputs & outcomes of one or more of the following topics:

  • Early warning systems
  • Safe hospital and schools
  • Country documents
  • Tools and initiatives
  • DRR communication
  • Common activities
  • DRR trends at the global level

The planning committee will meet occasionally to agree on regional initiatives and coordination mechanisms. The purpose of the first meeting will be to:

  • Define the agenda of the initial regional workshop to which all DIPECHO partners as well as relevant regional and national DRR focal points are invited;
  • Agree on the date and place of the meeting;
  • Define roles and responsibilities of DIPECHO partners how they will contribute to the implementation process by stimulating the potential outputs & outcomes supporting the 2013-2014 Action Plan.
