UNインタビュー・シリーズ国連の幅広い活動をより多くの日本の皆様に知っていただくために、UNインタビュー・シリーズでは、国連諸機関の親善大使やサポーターをはじめ、国連を通して国際貢献されている方々にお話を伺っていきます。

国連国際防災戦略事務局(UNISDR)が作成した国連世界防災白書2011の日本での発表が、5月25日、東京の国連大学(UNU)本部にて行われました。UNISDRとUNUの共催、外務省の後援により開催されました。2011年版のタイトルは「災害リスクを明らかにし、開発を再定義する」です。 The Japan launch of the 2011 Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction, prepared by the United Nations Secretariat for the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), was held at UNU Headquarters in Tokyo on 25 May 2011, in a forum co-organized by UNISDR and UNU and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

多くの病院や医療施設が毎年、地震やハリケーン、洪水などの自然災害により破壊され、あるいは、損害を受けています。医療施設が破壊されると、何百万もの人々が災害時または災害後において緊急医療を受けることができなくなります。 Hundreds of hospitals and heath facilities are destroyed or damaged every year by disasters caused by natural hazards such as earthquakes, hurricanes and floods.

国連国際防災戦略事務局(UNISDR)は、防災に関する広範な経験と専門知識を持つ日本政府および日本の防災関連機関とより密に協力していくため、兵庫県神戸市に国連国際防災戦略兵庫事務所(UNISDR Hyogo Office)を開設することになりました。 The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction secretariat is opening a new office, the “UNISDR Hyogo Office” in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan.

阪神淡路大震災から10年たった兵庫県神戸市で、1月18日から22日まで「国連防災世界会議(WCDR)」が開かれました。 Through its resolution A/RES/58/214, the United Nations General Assembly convened a World Conference on Disaster Reduction, to be held in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, from 18 to 22 January 2005.
